San Diego, CA - Commercial real estate attorney David Jones has returned to Procopio, rejoining the firm as a partner in its downtown San Diego office. His return marks the end of a more than six-year stretch spent in-house as Deputy General Counsel for the San Diego Unified Port District.
Jones originally built his career at Procopio before leaving for the public sector role. During his time with the Port District, he handled a wide range of legal matters tied to waterfront properties, leases, and development projects along San Diego Bay. That experience gives him a unique perspective on the intersection of public agency requirements and private sector real estate deals.
Back at Procopio, Jones will focus on commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and land use work. His familiarity with the Port District's operations is expected to be a draw for clients who do business with public entities or navigate complex regulatory environments.
In a statement, the firm noted that Jones's return strengthens its real estate practice and adds depth to its ability to serve clients with public-private partnership needs. Jones said he was looking forward to returning to private practice and working alongside former colleagues again.
His return is effective immediately.
