U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren has called for the immediate removal of Bill Pulte, the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, accusing him of abusing his authority. Warren specifically criticized Pulte for holding a second, concurrent position that grants him access to classified intelligence, arguing this dual role creates a dangerous conflict of interest and undermines the independence of mortgage oversight.

In a letter released to the public, the Massachusetts Democrat detailed allegations that Pulte has used his regulatory power to retaliate against agency staff and push a political agenda rather than focusing on the financial stability of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Warren claims that Pulte's simultaneous work with the intelligence community violates standard ethics protocols and blurs the line between housing policy and national security.

The senator argues that this arrangement allows Pulte to bypass normal congressional oversight and threatens the integrity of the housing finance system. She is urging the White House to terminate his appointment immediately, stating that his continued presence in both roles poses a direct risk to taxpayers and the fairness of the mortgage market.
