BOARDWALK REIT AND DGAM CANADIAN PRIVATE REAL ESTATE FUND, L.P. ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC CO-OWNERSHIP TO EXPAND WESTERN CANADIAN MULTIFAMILY PLATFORM AND INITIAL $292 MILLION SEED PORTFOLIO

Boardwalk Real Estate Investment Trust and the DGAM Canadian Private Real Estate Fund, managed by Desjardins Global Asset Management, have entered into a strategic co-ownership agreement. The partnership is designed to build a long-term institutional capital platform focused on acquiring and operating high-quality multifamily communities across Western Canada.

The co-ownership launches with an initial seed portfolio valued at $292 million. This portfolio includes a collection of existing multifamily properties that will serve as the foundation for future growth. Both partners aim to expand the platform by targeting additional acquisitions in key markets throughout the region.

The deal marks a significant step for Boardwalk as it seeks to scale its presence in the Western Canadian rental housing market. By teaming up with a large institutional investor like DGAM, the REIT gains access to deeper capital resources while maintaining operational control over the properties.

For DGAM, the partnership provides a direct entry into a growing segment of the Canadian real estate market. Multifamily housing in Western Canada has seen steady demand driven by population growth and limited supply in major urban centers.

The co-ownership structure allows both parties to share risks and rewards while aligning their interests around long-term asset appreciation and stable income generation. No financial terms beyond the initial portfolio value were disclosed. The partnership is expected to pursue further acquisitions in the coming months.
