County Treasurer Mitchell Darcourt announced this week that Shillington has become the latest municipality to offer online payment options for real estate taxes. The new system allows property owners to pay their bills through a secure web portal, eliminating the need to mail checks or visit the treasurer's office in person.
Darcourt stated that the move is part of a broader effort to modernize tax collection across the county. "We are seeing more and more towns adopt this convenience," he said. "Shillington residents have been asking for it, and we are happy to deliver."
The online platform accepts credit cards, debit cards, and electronic checks. A small processing fee applies to card transactions, while e-check payments carry a lower flat fee. Taxpayers can access the service through the county treasurer's website, where they will need their parcel number and the amount due.
Officials noted that the system is designed to be user-friendly and secure, with encryption protecting all financial data. For those who prefer traditional methods, in-person and mail-in payments remain available. The change is expected to reduce wait times at the county office during peak tax season and provide greater flexibility for residents with busy schedules.
