Angelina Jolie is technically free to leave Los Angeles now that her youngest children, twins Vivienne and Knox, have turned 18. The actress, 51, recently revealed that a custody-related requirement had kept her living in the city until her kids reached adulthood. But even with that obligation lifted, she may not be packing her bags anytime soon.
The main obstacle is her sprawling $30 million mansion in the Los Feliz area. The property, which she bought in 2017 after her divorce from Brad Pitt, sits on a massive estate with multiple buildings and a private pool. Selling a home of that size and price is never quick, especially in a market that has seen ups and downs. Jolie has also put significant work into the house, making it a true family home for her six children.
Beyond the real estate issue, leaving L.A. means untangling from a city where she has deep professional roots. Her production company, her team, and many of her industry connections are based there. Still, Jolie has long talked about wanting a quieter life, possibly abroad. She has spent time in Cambodia and the United Kingdom in recent years.
For now, the mansion remains a symbol of both her past and her present. She can technically leave whenever she wants, but the house may keep her in L.A. a little longer.
